Peaches

Choose from the traditionally grown Redhaven or certified organic Roza peaches — whichever way you go, you can’t go wrong. These peaches are quick-shipped to Cooks within hours of harvest. Firm, sweet and oh-so-juicy, they’re perfect for snacking, canning or freezing.

Rocky Mountain Peach Company was founded in 1972 after John and Diane Cox came to Palisade. The original plot consisted of 10 acres of apricots and grew to 32 acres of peaches by 1985. Through experiences as a laborer, John gained basic knowledge of peach farming techniques and practices. This family operation has continued to grow over the years through excellent tasting peaches and mutually beneficial sales relationships.

Located on a stunning desert plateau on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains, Kokopelli Produce is our favorite peach orchard in Colorado. It is owned and operated by Brant and Carol Harrison with help from their two young sons Aaron and Elijah. The Harrison family have been growing organic fruit in Palisade for almost 28 years now. It is the care that the whole Harrison family puts into their peaches that sets them apart. All trees are pruned by hand, and the fruit is also hand picked and packed. This kind of farming involves a great deal of labor, but it means that the peaches are less likely to get bruised or damaged. Hand packing also allows Brant and Carol to send the ripest fruit possible. According to Brant, those few extra days of ripening on the tree makes the difference between a good peach and a fantastic peach!

Beef

You’ve gotta make room in your freezer for this one! Cooks of Crocus Hill is excited to bring you 100 percent grass-fed Black Angus beef from Anderson Farm in Arkansaw, Wisconsin. This is a quarter side of beef, which includes cuts of sirloin, rump, chuck, round, short ribs, stew and stir-fry meat, soup bones and hamburger.

Anderson Farm has grown quickly since forming in 1994 after outgrowing their home vegetable garden. They use zero herbicides, pesticides, chemical fertilizers, growth hormones or antibiotics. Their Black Angus cattle are raised on naturally managed pastures and hay, which results in a rich, lean beef.

$4.50 per lb.  (approximately 150 lbs./share). Share includes Sirloin Roast, Rump Roast, Chuck Roast, Round Roast, 40 lbs. of Hamburger (1-lb. packs), 2 Porterhouse Steaks, 6-8 Ribeyes (2 to a pack), 6-8 T-Bones (2 to a pack), 10 lbs. of Short Ribs, 5 lbs. of Stew Meat, 3 lbs. of Stir-Fry Meat, 5 lbs. of Soup Bones and Oxtails. Russian Wild Pig

The Russian wild pig is a prehistoric breed of swine, originating in the Black Forest and requiring special permits to farm. These exotic black-skinned creatures are raised on oats, hay and grass for at least 18 months before slaughter.

This special crop share is brought to us by our friends at Buffalo Gal, in Houston, Minnesota. While this share is not officially certified organic, the Money Creek Buffalo Ranch where they were raised provides organic pastures. This is certain to be one of the finest pork products you’ve ever tasted.

Duck

Imagine a starter of seared foie gras on toasted brioche, served with a chilled glass of your favorite bubbly. Or a simple frisée salad with a poached egg and applewood-smoked bacon bits, followed by a flavorful Pinot Noir served with pan-crisped duck confit and a side of sautéed potatoes.
 
Owners Christian Gasset and Elizabeth Gibson-Gasset of Au Bon Canard in Caledonia, Minnesota, hand-feed and tend their poultry according to time-honored family tradition. Their small flocks of pasture-raised ducks are cared for without antibiotics, dietary supplements, appetite stimulants or growth-promoting hormones. This is a gourmet product that’s as pure and natural as you’ll find.

American Chocolate Bar Flight

We’ve seen — and tasted! — the rise of artisan chocolate-making over the last several years, and now Cooks of Crocus Hill is bringing a unique tasting flight to our customers. This box features chocolates from four American chocolate makers: Patric in Columbia, Missouri; Amano Artisan in Orem, Utah; TAZA in Somerville, Massachusetts; and local favorite Rogue.  This flight is presented by local Lovehandles Chocolate and includes a box of confections.

Each of these companies strives for the ultimate chocolate experience for both aficionados and novices. This share is truly one to be savored.

Cooks of Crocus Hill has once again managed to get a hold of a limited quantity of Bourbon Red heritage turkeys for the holiday season. These exceptional birds are delivered fresh to Cooks within a day of slaughter and are never frozen. Place your order early to ensure you’re dining on the best Thanksgiving turkey on the market. These sell out quickly!
 
These birds are raised on two family farms in southern Minnesota, where they get plenty of sunshine, fresh air, grass and the freedom to run around. Antibiotics, hormones and animal byproducts are never used. One taste and you’ll understand why this is the best bird money can buy.
